The synthetic form of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH, also called LHRH), a 10-amino-acid hormone made in the hypothalamus. The FDA approved it for people as Factrel (1982) and Lutrepulse (1989), both now discontinued, and Canada has no human gonadorelin product on sale; France still authorises two Ferring medicines (Lutrelef and LHRH Ferring), and gonadorelin injections for cattle are approved veterinary drugs in the US and Canada.
